Kho Tao

We arrived on Kho Tao on Thursday, 14th June 2007 after a five hour taxi ride from Bangkok and a 2 hour ferry crossing from Chumporn. Kho Tao has changed significantly since we were last here. Then, there was no electricity outside of private generators, only a handful of huts and eating places and only very basic infrastructure. Now, there are numerous banks, numerous 7-11s and you can get food from all over the world from French to Mexican to Japanese. Of course, you can eat great Thai everywhere but at least there is now a choice.

What else has changed, well development doesn't come without a cost and this has shown itself in Kho Tao by an over developed waterfront in a lot of Saree Beach although a lot of the original places are still there. Still a great place for photos though.

Nang Yang Island, a tiny cluster of three Islands just a few hundred meters from Kho Tao itself.

and the bar itself...

Stunning sunsets from the beach.

Saturday, 23rd June - The Frogs are restless tonight I think we caught the beginning of the rainy season today, we had a torrential downpour this afternoon that ran into early evening. It might have kept the mosquitos down but it brought the frogs out in force and they kept their croaking up until the early hours. I have never heard such loud croaks.
